The JAT community has produced India's bravest soldiers. These are documented recipients of the nation's highest military honors.
1947-48 Indo-Pak war. Led a desperate defense at Rezang La with 11 JAT soldiers against 2000 Chinese troops. All 11 made the ultimate sacrifice. Param Vir Chakra awarded posthumously.
1971 Bangladesh War. Led his company in a daring night assault on enemy positions, destroying multiple bunkers. Made the ultimate sacrifice while shielding his men.
Distinguished service in counter-insurgency operations. Led multiple successful targeted operations against armed militants. Multiple encounters over three years in hostile terrain.
1947-48 war. Displayed exemplary bravery during an enemy attack on his post. Repelled multiple assaults and held his position until reinforcements arrived despite being wounded.
Counter-terrorism operations in Punjab. Led undercover operations that dismantled multiple terrorist modules. Made the supreme sacrifice during a covert operation in 1991.
Gallantry in an armed encounter in 1999. Voluntarily drew enemy fire to protect his squad position. Wounded in action, continued to lead until the objective was secured.
